Hidden Sources of MSG Below is a partial list of the most common names for disguised MSG. Notice that many of them are sources of "vegetarian foods". Remember also that the powerful excitotoxins aspartate and L-cysteine are frequently added to foods and according to FDA rules require no labeling at all.

Potentially Harmful Ingredients
Alcohol: May increase the risk of developing oral or throat cancer.
Aluminum: Related to nerve damage and brain disorders, such as Alzheimer�s.
Butane Aerosol propellant: Is flammable and in high doses may be narcotic or cause asphyxiation.
Flavoring: Some can be potentially carcinogenic.
Fluoride: Has been shown to be a potential carcinogen.
Propane Aerosol propellant: Is flammable and in high doses may be narcotic.
Propylene Glycol: Has been shown to cause dermatitis, kidney and liver abnormalities. Inhibits skin cell growth. Very irritating to the skin.
Salt: Very drying, irritating, and corrosive.
Sodium Fluoride: Has been shown to be a potential carcinogen.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES): Two very similar chemicals that build up in the heart, liver, lungs, and brain.
